We are thrilled to introduce Ryan Crockatt, who has joined our team at Borders Podiatry and Performance Clinic. Ryan brings an impressive array of experience and qualifications, making him a valuable addition to our clinic.
Ryan holds a BSc (Hons) in Sports & Exercise Science from Napier University (2006) and a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Northumbria University (2009). His commitment to ongoing education has seen him complete Masters modules in injection therapy, sports and exercise rehabilitation (ASPSEM), and acquire advanced skills in K-Taping and acupuncture. In addition, Ryan has undergone post-graduate training in manipulation, with a primary focus on thoracic manipulation, further enhancing his ability to treat complex musculoskeletal issues. Currently, Ryan also serves as an Advanced Orthopaedic Physio Practitioner with the NHS, where he specialises in complex musculoskeletal conditions and orthopaedic cases.
One of Ryan’s most notable achievements is his role as the Team GB Physio for the Women’s Rugby 7’s team during their preparations and qualification for the Paris Olympics. Ryan was integral in ensuring the athletes remained in peak physical condition throughout the rigorous training and competitive schedule. His expertise in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation was crucial as the team faced the challenges of international competition. Ryan’s efforts culminated in the Women’s Rugby 7’s team becoming European Games Champions in 2023, a significant milestone on their journey to the Paris Olympics. This achievement not only highlights Ryan’s skill and dedication but also underscores his ability to support athletes at the highest levels of sport.
Beyond his work with Team GB, Ryan has an extensive background working with a variety of high-performance teams, including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he was the Lead Physiotherapist for Track and Field. He has particularly fond memories of being trackside during the 100m final, a moment that stands out as one of the highlights of his career. He has also worked with Scotland U18’s, where he served as Lead Clinician, and with Scotland Senior 7’s, Scotland Rugby Academy as Lead Physiotherapist, Watsonians RFC (Super 6), Samurai 7’s, Selkirk Rugby, and Scotland Club XV. This breadth of experience ensures that Ryan brings a deep understanding of the demands of elite sports to his work at our clinic.
What makes Ryan’s addition to our team even more special is his deep connection to the Borders region. Having grown up here, Ryan attended local schools and played rugby at Selkirk, where his passion for sports and physiotherapy first began. His local roots and commitment to the community add a personal touch to the expert care he provides at Borders Podiatry and Performance Clinic.
At Borders Podiatry and Performance Clinic, Ryan applies the same level of dedication and expertise to all his patients, from elite athletes to those simply looking to improve their physical health. His patient-centred approach ensures that each individual receives tailored treatment designed to meet their specific needs and goals.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Ryan on our team and are excited about the expertise, energy, and local insight he brings to Borders Podiatry and Performance Clinic. Welcome, Ryan!
