Heel Pain and Plantarfasciitis (plantarfasciopathy)

Pain in the heel when standing and walking can be very frustrating, sore and can stop you doing the things you love to do. There are many causes of heel pain and it is essential to get a correct diagnosis so you can have effective evidence based treatment. The most well known cause of heel pain is Plantarfasciitis however the cause of pain can also be due to Heel Spurs, Achilles Tendonitis, Bursitis, Sever’s Disease or trapped nerves, to name just a few.

Taking a thorough history of your symptoms, carrying out assessments and often using diagnostic ultrasound we can get to the cause of your heel pain and begin the process of rehabilitation to get you back on your feet pain free. If you simply search heel pain online or tell someone you have heel pain you will usually be told it is Plantarfasciitis but more often than not we find it is something else. If your symptoms are not improving after a few weeks it is best to come and see us so we can accurately diagnose what is wrong.
